MODEL RM
DATA RECORDER WITH PRINT TO EMAIL

Collect data remotely from all sorts of measuring instruments, machines, alarm panels, printers, or sensors.

    - For data capture to SD Card and to email attachment.

    - Serial RS-232 Input
    - Record thousands of print reports on SD Card
    - All input data is appended to record.txt
    - User sends an email with a command line in it.
Then
Model RM sends record.txt as an attachment in an email.

Use T-TAP25 Splitter to collect data in the background while

continuing to operate your system as normal.

A Parallel LPT printer interface adapter is also available to
    replace a dot matrix printer.
This is a simple and direct way to collect data remotely
    without having IT expertise.

This data capture system is isolated and independant of corporate IT systems.
Only a WiFi connection with internet and an email account is required.
No licensing and no software required. No IT expertise required.
No PC required.
This unit will upgrade your measuring equipment to be able to collect print reports or other
text reports to SD Card storage, and as well to access the storage remotely. The unit can also
be set to distribute the email with the record.txt attachment to co-workers (three 3 recipients max.).
Model RM requires a WiFi connection with internet to access the users email account. A dedicated email account should be set up to isolate the RM system. A dedicated email account prevents any interference with personal or business email servers.
EXAMPLE: If you are monitoring the print data from an autoclave sterilizer cycle you could obtain an email
account named: rm@sterilizer-mini5.com Email accounts can be purchased inexpensively from many providers
for as little as $40/year. Then send an email to rm@sterilizer-mini5.com and receive an email back to your desk
or phone with the log file record.txt attachment.

An optional splitter cable allows the user to tap into an existing, working system to collect serial port data and view
it remotely without disrupting your current working system.
The RM unit is compatible to various types of connectors on serial ports simply by adding the right combination of
Male/Female adapter, 9 Pin to 25 Pin adapter, or adding a "Nul cable".
Save time travelling to other cities to collect data.

Model RM suits numerous types of equipment that have a serial port which outputs report data.

Provides out of office monitoring of:
- Laboratory measuring equipment - Alarm panel printer data - RTU installations - Security Systems - Industrial Control Monitoring - Vending Machines - Weigh Scales - Dot Matrix Printer Data - POS Point Of Sale Machines - Sensors, Meters, Thermometers, etc.

Two Outputs: 1.) SD Card log file. 2.) Email transmission of the log file.
Not only log data from your equipment, but also access the log remotely
from other locations.
View your data simply by email whenever it is convenient.

Record serial data from RTU's, PLC's, Sensors, Print Cables, and
equipment that output RS-232 serial data.

Email Received from Model RM:

Larger View

Attachment in Email: record.txt
Example: 2MB file size logs 25,000 lines

Example Application:
An alarm system panel for a building complex outputs status changes to a dot matrix printer every few minutes.
The printer uses an RS232 Serial Interface data cable. Model RM acts as a serial logger.

Objective:
Record the print data to a file and make the file accessible remotely.

Setup Steps:
1.) Insert the Photologic Ltd. RS-232 Splitter Cable "inline" on the print cable. The printer will keep printing normally.
2.) Attach Model RM Emailer to the tap on the splitter cable.
3.) Assign an email account to Model RM unit: (So that the RM unit has its own email account.)
Obtain an email account with domain name, e.g. west-side-plaza3.com and name the email: rm@west-side-plaza3.com
Example: “Bluehost” web hosting webmail or web site with one email address. $39USD /year Yr 2024
Upcharges like Domain Privacy + Protection is not mandatory and user can economize by
not accepting such extra features. Do not choose a two step verification email account. Perhaps do not use your personal/business email account as the RM unit will delete the email Inbox after you
send a command to it. 4.) Configure the RM unit using its SD Card config.txt file. Enter WiFi name/password and mail server name/pswd etc. that you are given with the account. 5.) Power Model RM up and it will record all print data to the SD Card, while the printer keeps printing like normal. 6.) Send an email anytime to
rm@west-side-plaza3.com with command
"Model RM(send)" in the subject line. 7.) Model RM will check the email server inbox for the "Model RM(send)" email every 30 sec., and if it exists, then RM sends the SD Card record.txt file as an attachment to everyone in the email distribution list.
8.) The RM continues to log RS-232 alarm panel data while the emails are sent, as it has a large buffer (90,000 characters). 9.) The user may set "automatic emailing" of the record.txt file for two specific times per day.

For Printer Replacement, consider Model RM if:

1.) Your printer is a dotmatrix such as Epson, Panasonic, Okidata, or thermal
printer such as Seiko. 2.) Interface is: RS-232 Serial, or Parallel LPT (add CS-DB25 to Model RM). 3.) Your print data is plain generic ASCII text without graphics.
